After a long and winding four years to successfully fill the Westview Town Suites building, Silvera recently celebrated reaching 97 per cent capacity at this thriving community.
Courtenay Langley-Pears is a sales advisor at Westview. Her commitment and innovation have helped transform the community.
“When I first joined Silvera in July 2024, I saw immense potential in Westview,” she says.
After a renovation and eventual re-opening in 2021, the building struggled for nearly four years to fill to capacity. But Courtenay believed in the “beauty, light, and friendliness of the place.” Her vision, however, was clear: to create a welcoming environment where residents could feel at home and connected.
One of her key strategies was spending quality time with current residents. “This really allowed me to know who the residents are so we could attract others with similar backgrounds and interests,” she says. Her frequent presence in the sunny atrium, where employees and residents spend time together, helped her get a real sense of the community.
Courtenay also conducted numerous tours for both current and potential residents, discovering what people liked about the building. She uses that information to help other potential residents see a place they could easily fit into.
“I always emphasize the convenience of having meals and housekeeping taken care of, along with a variety of activities to choose from,” she says. “This really resonates with potential residents, and helps them envision living an easier, fulfilling life at Westview.”
The results of Courtenay’s hard work have paid off. In September and October 2024 Westview saw a significant increase in new residents, bringing the building to capacity for the first time since renovations in began in 2019.
She believes the influx of new people brought a renewed sense of excitement and energy to the community. “Residents are now waving and smiling at each other and at employees, as they feel a sense of belonging.”
Courtenay believes the success of Westview was bolstered by its location in the established neighborhood of Glamorgan and the presence of Westview Residence West next door. “The campus lifestyle adds to the appeal of Westview Town Suites,” she says. She says potential WVRW residents find it beneficial to live independently while having access to amenities and services next door at Westview Town Suites.
The journey to fill Westview has required time, dedication, empathy, and a healthy dose of community-building.
“We have not only filled the community, but we’re also really creating a vibrant and supportive environment where residents can thrive,” Courtenay says.
