In October 2022, Suncor employees and Kenneth Taylor Junior High School painted over 1,000 wooden poppies. In November, a group of Suncor employees hung the poppies on the fence along Memorial Drive to honour veterans on Remembrance Day. This project is a great example of how a Silvera Care Day has inter-generational possibilities and impact. We have our eye on 1,000 more poppies for 2023.
Give the gift of your time
Thank you for considering Silvera as a place to volunteer. We appreciate your interest in our organization and most importantly, in seniors.
Throughout the past few years, because of COVID, we have not been offering many individual volunteer opportunities. We are pleased to let you know that we are now accepting volunteers at our Aspen and Shouldice Communities.
We can once again invite episodic (one-time) group volunteer opportunities at all Silvera locations.
Volunteers lift our communities

We value and appreciate individuals who volunteer with us and look forward to having you join our team!
We are refreshing our Silvera-wide volunteer program using Aspen and Shouldice to help us define a strategic new beginning. We will capture learnings and expand to all other Silvera sites over the remainder of 2023. Our goal is to ensure volunteer engagement is better than ever!
For those of you who have applied for a volunteer position and have not yet connected with us, please do not give up! We realize your plans may have changed since you expressed your interest in volunteering. If you are still interested, please send us an email at [email protected].
If you are a new volunteer, please apply and we will be in touch. If you are able to volunteer at Aspen and Shouldice, we have opportunities available. If you are interested in volunteering at another Silvera community, please submit your application. We will contact you when opportunities at other Silvera communities become available.

Groups of all ages and stages of life are welcome to join us for a Silvera Care Day!
Families, groups of friends, community groups (service clubs, scouting, schools, churches) and workplace/corporate teams are welcome.
We have two types of Silvera Care Days – one is working directly with our residents through our Life, Learning and Leisure program. These activities vary based on the size of your group and where you would like to volunteer. It is best to reach out so we can discuss the current opportunities and how to best accommodate your groups needs and interests.
The second is working alongside our building operators helping with outside projects – like painting, gardening and small landscaping projects.
We can accommodate groups of different sizes at our many locations across Calgary.
