Give the gift of your time.
Volunteers are a vital part of the work we do. Each year, volunteers provide Silvera more than 5,800 hours of service to help residents live their best lives. If you’re looking for a meaningful volunteer opportunity with older Calgarians, consider sharing your time with Silvera.
Volunteers lift our communities
Silvera loves volunteers!
We provide many opportunities for volunteers to learn and contribute in meaningful ways. We offer outdoor, indoor and remote activities. Volunteers help with creative arts, gardening, and spiritual- and faith-based activities. They also take part in physical programming, such as piloting our trishaw bike.
Volunteers help residents to live their best lives. We aim to find great opportunities that support residents and fulfill volunteers.
Groups of all ages and stages of life are welcome to join us at Silvera! Families, groups of friends, community groups (service clubs, scouting, schools) and workplace teams have all volunteered with us.
You may have a great idea about something your group would like to share with Silvera residents. Perhaps you are a group of performers or artists who can lead an activity. You might like to challenge residents to a hockey shootout, or a trivia contest.
We can accommodate groups of different sizes at our many locations across Calgary.
If you are a corporate team looking for a meaningful experience, sign up for a Silvera Care Day, which often involve outdoor projects like gardening. Silvera residents love to learn, and enjoy when volunteers engage them in learning, thinking and doing. For example, past groups have worked with residents to build bird houses and learn about bird watching.
If you are part of a group that wants to volunteer with older adults, Silvera can work with you to develop the perfect volunteer project!
