Silvera’s living options for the fully independent older adult include apartments and townhomes with full kitchens, which include a stove top, fridge, oven or microwave-convection oven. Most units are one bedroom, with some locations offering studio suites or two bedroom suites (with preference given to couples or two applicants). Most locations have shared washers and dryers for a nominal fee, with a few locations equipped with in-suite laundry. Amenities vary with options from air conditioning, dishwashers, underground parking (newer locations) to patios and balconies (limited).

At Silvera, most of our communities are 65+, with a few select locations at 55+ and 60+. Active resident-led social clubs foster community spirit and make it easy to get to know your neighbour.

Once you’ve determined if you’re a fit for independent living, you’re ready to select between affordable housing and well-priced market housing.

Applicants for affordable housing must generally be 65 years of age or older. Exceptions may be made for applicants with special circumstances. In addition, applicants must be functionally independent, with or without the assistance of community-based services.

If your annual income as reported on your notice of assessment is less than $37,500, you would qualify for a bachelor suite. The maximum income for a one-bedroom suite is $44,000 and the maximum income for a two-bedroom suite is $54,000.
